GYMSHARK 2022-2023
In July 2023 I completed a 13-month Seamless Product Development Placement at Gymshark. During this placement I assisted and supported the Seamless Team in developing world-class, fit for market garments. This placement substantially expanded my knowledge and skillset and gave me the invaluable opportunity to learn a new expertise in Seamless garment production. Not only have I acquired an extensive range of new technical abilities in Product Development and Seamless garment making, I have also gained an abundance of personal skills and soft skills that I will carry with me for the rest of my career.
SEAMLESS PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
During my year at Gymshark I learnt about Seamless garments and how they are made, such as: SANTONI Knitting machines, Seamless fabrics and yarns and how circular knitted garments are fitted and adapted.
PLACEMENT COHORT
Not only did I develop my skills at Gymshark I also gained so many new friends through this experience. In my placement cohort there were 20 students all completing different placement roles. We all had an amazing and memorable year together, and I am grateful to everyone who I had the pleasure of meeting, as they all shaped one of the best years of my career so far!
GYMSHARK "GIVE A SH*T"
Gymshark have lots of amazing links with lots of charities to help them with fundraising and volunteering. Throughout my placement year I tried to get involved with as many charitable and volunteering activities as I could. Gymshark offer a day off work called a "GIVE A SH*T" day to go help out in the community. I organised the Product Development teams first ever "GIVE A SH*T"day where we helped set up a homeless shelter for the Christmas period. I also completed two Dragon Boat Races two summers in a row to raise money for Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital and had the incredible opportunity of being team captain in my second year and independently representing Gymshark at a Birmingham Women's and Children's hospital event.
